Osteoarthritis (OA)

Also known as degenerative joint disease, OA is a common ailment that affects more than 3 million men and women in the U.S. each year. The condition is characterized by the progressive breakdown of the protective cartilage that surrounds your joints, resulting in pain, stiffness and tenderness that worsens over time.

Study Overview

  • Participants: 40-75 years of age
  • Condition: Osteoarthritis of the knee
  • Treatment: The efficacy of an oral medication for managing OA

Rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that causes persistent facial redness and swollen red bumps. It often comes and goes, with recurrent periods of flare-ups and remissions. It is thought to be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors, and certain variables can trigger or aggravate the condition, such as alcohol, spicy foods, extreme temperatures and intense emotions.

  • Treatment: The efficacy of a topical medication for managing the symptoms of rosacea

Irritable Bowel Syndrome-Diarrhea (IBS-D)

IBS that causes increased diarrhea is referred to as IBS-D. Though an exact cause is not known, it’s more common in women who are under 50, and the condition tends to run in families.

With IBS-D, your colon is extremely sensitive to things like stress, bacteria and different foods. When your symptoms flare up, you may experience belly pain, loose stools and sudden urges to have a bowel movement.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome-Diarrhea (IBS-C)

When your IBS is characterized by chronic constipation, it’s known as IBS-C. This common disorder causes cramping, abdominal pain, bloating and constipation, and is often triggered by different foods, stress and hormones.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a group of diseases that causes too much glucose (sugar) to accumulate in your blood. This excess can lead to a number of serious health problems, including cardiovascular disease, nerve damage, kidney damage, eye damage, foot damage, Alzheimer’s disease and more.

Acne

Acne is a common skin condition that develops when pores become clogged with oil and dead skin cells, causing whiteheads, blackheads, red bumps, papules filled with pus, and large, painful lumps beneath the surface of the skin. Although there are some effective treatment approaches available, it can be a very persistent and distressing condition.
